Climate Change in New Hampshire: Living by Beatitude Pond

Observations of the climate and nature in the uplands and wetlands of our own backyard in rural New Hampshire.

It is raining this evening at Beatitude Pond. Rain we needed. The last couple of weeks have been fairly dry.
I like the sound of the rain falling through the leaves...all the windows are open so we are in surround sound. The solar light might not shine tonight.

My husband and I purchased land in rural New Hampshire last year and had a house built. The land includes a pond, brook and a hilly forested area with trees. As far as we can tell, the property hasn't been farmed in several decades, but it was originally agricultural land. We have called it Beatitude Pond because we are committed to peace and finding ways to live more sustainably. Some years ago I worked for an NGO which had an affiliation with Genesis Farm in Blairstown, NJ. I have been inspired by the work they have done there in organic farming, environmental educational and supporting other local farmers. I always dreamed of having my own Genesis Farm one day. Now we are at the beginning of that dream.
