More Later

We are in the thick of summer. Creatures fly, crawl, dash into hidden spaces of green. The wetlands we walked with abandon in the winter we do not tread into without arming ourselves against ticks and other biting creatures.

Last week Lindley saw a small bear in the wild raspberry bushes by the pond.

I watched the unconcerned swim of a river otter.

There have been some hot and humid days, but dry and sunny ones, too. In short---a summer with some variety as expressed in the lush greens with a sprinkling of the colors of wild flowers.

Oil prices are high, but the garden and forest grow on unconcerned and maybe thankful that we have more time to linger in the garden.
