Hot, hot, and hotter still

This past week has been unbearably hot in the Northeast - with some short reprieves of rain here and there. The grass is burnt from the sun in spots. Berries seem to be coming out a bit earlier than usual. The squash is wilting.

Today we had a solid morning of rain and the vegetation is looking a bit peppier. Saw either the otter or beaver out in the murky pond. It disappeared before I had a chance to confirm its identity.

Inside it's very muggy. We need to fix up the basement so we can retreat there on days like these.
