April 14 and beyond
On April 14th the frogs came alive at Beatitude Pond. A few days before I could hear woodfrogs at the Town Hall.
Then it got cold for a bit and there was less chatter. On Holy Saturday it snowed all day! Our last snow day here was the first Friday in April.
In the south there have been tremendous tornadoes and tragically 360 people were killed by supercells cutting a swath of destruction. Scary. Here lately the weather has been calmer with an occasional downpour. Everything is springing ahead now...river plants, wildflowers, ferns are unfurling.
The beaver is repairing the dam and its den. A bear left a huge print in the drive two weeks ago.
On 202 I spotted a mother bear and her two cubs foraging in the forest.
Today I heard a loon. Lindley bought a fly fishing pole and has been practicing zinging it into the Beatitude Pond.
We stocked the ponds with trout. A heron has been visiting and Lindley has chased it off.
